SAE J2959
Methods of Measurement of Magnetic Fields in Vehicles for Assessment of Occupant Exposure, 1 Hz to 300 kHz
Developed by committee: Electromagnetic Compatibility (Emc) Standards
Annotation and contents
Source of this annotation and contents: SAE.
Rationale:
Several national and international standards and regulations address human exposure to electromagnetic fields, over various frequency ranges. Additional product-specific exposure standards or regulations may apply to some intentional electromagnetic emitting devices used in vehicles (e.g., personal communication devices). This document was motivated by the need to establish standardized measurement procedures for surveying vehicle fields which may be produced by various electrical sources, loads, and electrical distribution systems, which are not covered by other product-specific standards or regulations. This document addresses the dominant field components produced by vehicles, which are generally low frequency (<300 kHz) and magnetic, for vehicles employing conventional and/or electric propulsion technology.
