Rationale:
This Standard developed for the purpose to provide uniform performance requirements, a minimum temperature specifications, and defines the criteria used to determine engine-off heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for truck with and without sleepers in order to achieve driver and passenger(s) thermal comfort in both winter and summer rest periods. It is limited to a test that can be conducted on uniform test equipment in commercially available laboratory facilities. This Standard is designed to help equipment users select an engine-off HVAC system that best suits their operation’s particular need through a standardized test.
