This SAE Recommended Practice is intended to provide guidelines to the vehicle manufacturer for applying recovery attachment points on vehicles rated up to 7000 lb GVW, such as passenger cars, vans, and light trucks.
Rationale:
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended to provide the guidelines to the passenger car and light duty truck manufacturers on the testing procedures used to evaluate a vehicle design when the vehicle is being towed using industry standard wheel lift towing equipment. This standard and its testing procedure are applicable to both front wheel drive and rear wheel drive vehicle configurations
